I have available a number of UniSolar US-64 framed solar panels. They sell for $350 each or $650 a pair. I also use these panels in solar backup power systems I put together which lessens the cost when bought with the system.
These panels are unique because they don't use glass in their construction and so are very durable. This makes them ideal for portable type solar backup power systems.
UniSolar panels use an amorphous type solar cell which makes the panels a little bigger than a similar wattage crystaline panel. However, watt for watt the UniSolar panels perform better in different conditions than do other solar cell types. They are lighter weight for their size, they produce power in low light and overcast conditions and produce closer to their rated power even in very hot conditions.
UniSolar panels are shade tollerant meaning if one part of the panel is covered by shadow, the other cells will keep producing power. Many panels will shut down almost completely with just a single solar cell in the shade.
In portable power conditions, you need a solar panel that can take abuse and keep producing power. A UniSolar panel will still produce power with a hole punched through one or the solar cells. Compared to a crystiline panel or one with a glass front, a hole would likely shatter and render the whole panel useless.
These panels were part of a system that was started but not finished. They were deployed but taken down shortly after. They come with about a 3+ foot of 10/2 cable already attached to the junction box on the back.
