The Village on Sewanee Creek is a Self-Sustaining Community of Like Minded people (not a commune). It consists of 750 mostly wooded acres with spectacular bluff views, waterfalls and creeks. 500 acres (2/3) is a nature preserve that will remain wild.
We value hardy independence, self-sufficiency, practical skills, a desire to be of service, give and receive with healthy inter-dependence, Christian love of people and nature with a desire to live in harmony with both and clean fun.
Our objective is to become self-sufficient. Our top four priorities are:
- Water
- Food
- Energy
- Community: This one is primal because we seek to populate the Village with diverse skills that can cover all other requirements for self-sufficient, peaceful living.
Grant Miller and family are the developers and pioneer 1st residents of the village. We strive to lead by example. In three years we have largely met our personal goals for water, food and energy independence. Our joy is in helping others do the same. The community is building nicely with wonderful people who share our values.
